Action #1: search again
Not in your other coat, wallet or handbag? Not fallen behind the sofa? Search carefully, once you'll report the loss, your card will be cancelled and there will be no way to reactivate it...
Action #2: emergency management
If you can't find your payment card, always report it missing immediately to both the card company and the Police. You will need a Police reference number for any insurance claims.

Action #3: check your bank account
It's distressing if your credit or debit card is lost and you realise it has been used to purchase goods. You do have rights to get your money back if you have been affected by credit card fraud, as long as you act promptly when you discover your card is gone. You should always be refunded in full for any transactions that take place after you've reported your card missing. If you don't realise for a number of days that your card has been lost or stolen you should still be able to get your money back.
Failure to keep details safe
If your card provider can show that you've failed to take reasonable measures to keep your card and/or your PIN safe, then it could make you responsible for the first £50 of any disputed transaction. In practice, many banks waive this £50 contribution, so it’s worth checking the terms and conditions of your card.
